If you’re planning to apply for BCBA certification on or after January 1, 2027, you’ll need to follow the new 2027 BACB requirements. These updates affect how you log hours, get supervision, and complete your documentation. This page explains what’s changing in Ripley so you can easily understand and meet the new 2027 requirements.
Getting Started with the 2027 Requirements
Switching to the 2027 BACB requirements in Ripley is quick and easy. Just visit your My Profile page and toggle your Application Date to either Before January 1, 2027 or On or After January 1, 2027.
You can switch back and forth at any time—Ripley will automatically adjust your experience to match the correct requirements, so you can plan confidently as your certification timeline evolves.

Update to Supervision Requirements
While most supervision requirements remain the same, there’s a small change for those applying on or after January 1, 2027.
If applying before January 1, 2027:
- Supervised Fieldwork: 5% of hours
- Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork: 10% of hours
If applying on or after January 1, 2027:
- Supervised Fieldwork: 5% of hours (no change)
- Concentrated Supervised Fieldwork: 7.5% of hours (updated from 10%)
Be sure to track your supervision accordingly based on your application timeline.
New Hour Entry Requirements for 2027
Under the 2027 BACB standards, you no longer need to track the number of contacts and observations per entry. Instead, you'll enter the total time your supervisor observed you with a client (in minutes) during supervised sessions. This new field appears when logging supervised time and will help Ripley track your monthly observation totals based on your fieldwork type — Concentrated or Non-Concentrated.

Updated Monthly Dashboard for 2027
The Monthly Dashboard now displays your Observation Time for each supervised hour entry and totals it across the month. It also shows whether you’ve met the required observation minutes based on your fieldwork type, making it easy to stay on track with the 2027 BACB requirements.

Monthly Verification Forms
Improved Monthly Verification Form functionality is coming later this month! This update will include the new 2027-compliant verification forms required for users applying on or after January 1, 2027. You’ll also be able to generate forms retroactively, making it easy to go back and complete any missing documentation for previous months. These enhancements are designed to keep your paperwork organized and ensure full BACB compliance.
