RBT to BCBA fieldwork at Family Support Center

Paid behavior-technician work can count toward BCBA fieldwork when the activities, supervisor, monthly contacts, observations, and documentation meet BACB requirements. Employment alone does not make every hour count.

1. Confirm the supervisor. Verify that the person overseeing your hours is qualified and available for the required contacts and observations.
2. Sign the contract first. Put responsibilities, supervision format, and documentation expectations in writing before counting hours.
3. Plan unrestricted work. Direct therapy is usually restricted, so arrange assessment, analysis, training, and program-development activities deliberately.
4. Reconcile every month. Check totals, percentages, contacts, observations, and the Monthly Verification Form before the month closes.

Pre-2027 rules: months under 20 hours do not count; hours above 130 in a month are not credited. The 2027 cap is 160.
