Paid behavior-technician work can count toward BCBA fieldwork when the activities, supervisor, monthly contacts, observations, and documentation meet BACB requirements. Employment alone does not make every hour count.
- 1. Confirm the supervisor. Verify that the person overseeing your hours is qualified and available for the required contacts and observations.
- 2. Sign the contract first. Put responsibilities, supervision format, and documentation expectations in writing before counting hours.
- 3. Plan unrestricted work. Direct therapy is usually restricted, so arrange assessment, analysis, training, and program-development activities deliberately.
- 4. Reconcile every month. Check totals, percentages, contacts, observations, and the Monthly Verification Form before the month closes.
