Ripley has two places to log hours: Independent and Supervised, and each one is split into Restricted and Unrestricted. Can someone explain where I should log unrestricted hours my BCBA assigns as “homework” (writing a paper, building a presentation, etc.)?

I was told that when you are given homework like that, you mark it as unrestricted independent work. However, if you sit and talk to your supervisor to go over the homework, then the time you sat with them to discuss it counts as a contact without client present and IS a separate supervised log.
EX:
– The BCBA assigned you to read an article about MOs and identify x,y, and z. You log the time you spent on the task (i.e. 2 hours- independent & unrestricted).
– The next day you discuss the findings on the article with your BCBA for about 30 minutes (you log 30 minutes – supervised- individual unrestricted- non observational contact- in person).
Does this make sense?

This would be in independent (because you’re doing it alone) and unrestricted (bcs it is NOT direct therapy with a client).
Example: your BCBA asks you to write a behavior plan.
You spend 1 hour working on it at home (supervisor not present): Independent – Unrestricted.
Then you meet with your supervisor for 1 hour to review what you wrote: Supervised – Unrestricted.
Another example: you provide direct therapy and your supervisor isn’t there: Independent – Restricted.
Another example: your BCBA observes you to meet the supervision requirement, but you don’t cover supervision topics or unrestricted work: Supervised – Restricted.

Any hours you do when your supervisor isn’t with you should be logged under Independent Hours.
Got it. Then what’s the difference between Restricted and Unrestricted under the Supervised Hours section?
Those are for times you’re working directly with your supervisor present. I’d suggest checking with your supervisor to confirm how they want you tracking it.
